I have several PCs/laptops running both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, all 64 bit. Has anyone else had this problem and solved it? Anyone have any idea on other things to try? Do you have any other audio software apps/drivers running that might be affecting it?Īny other USB hardware that might be causing an issue? I have never seen mine come up as 'USB PnP Audio Device'. I've tried other troubleshooting methods, unplugging and plugging it back in, disconnecting and reconnecting the connector in the middle of the cable, uninstalling the incorrect driver, changing the incorrect driver to something incompatible, then uninstalling that driver, disabling legacy USB support in the BIOS (Which should also imply multiple reboots), updating other drivers, disconnecting all other USB devices, etc. I know my cable has worked with the game as near as a month ago. I know my cable works, because when I use it as input in Audacity, it records just fine.

When I plug my Real Tone cable into any of my PC's USB ports (both 2.0 and 3.0), it is recognized by Windows (8.1) as 'USB PnP Audio Device', not 'Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter' as it should. I've looked all over, and no one has posted a fix for this problem that works. For Mac OS X users with supported products, if a driver is not provided by the operating system, they must be downloaded and installed. For those products, simply plugging in your device should cause your PC to download and install drivers automatically if your PC has Internet access.
